President Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran following a 12-day conflict, after the U.S. bombed three Iranian nuclear sites. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE,” Trump posted online, though neither country confirmed it immediately.
The truce was to begin with Iran and be joined by Israel 12 hours later. Trump called it a war “that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!”
Iran had fired 14 missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar in response to the attacks. Trump said, “NO Americans were harmed,” and thanked Iran for giving early warning. He added, “Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony.”
Vice President JD Vance said this war would be remembered as “an important reset moment,” and warned Iran against trying to build nuclear weapons in the future.
Although the bombing likely damaged Iran’s nuclear capabilities, it may also increase Tehran’s resolve. Oil markets remained stable despite fears over Iran potentially closing the Strait of Hormuz. Trump urged allies to pump more oil to “KEEP OIL PRICES DOWN.”
