Conflict Escalates: Iran Refuses Truce Following Trump’s Mediation Efforts

After a 12-day conflict, Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump. However, just two hours later, Israel claimed that Iran violated the truce by firing missiles, prompting renewed tensions.

Earlier, both sides had exchanged deadly attacks. Iran launched missiles at Israel before dawn, killing four and injuring 20, according to emergency services. Israel responded with airstrikes across Iran, targeting its military leadership and infrastructure.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel had “accomplished all objectives,” including weakening Iran’s missile and nuclear programs. He warned, “Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

President Trump expressed hope for lasting peace, stating, “I don’t believe they will ever be shooting at each other again.”

After the alleged Iranian violation, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the military to “respond forcefully… with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran,” though CNN reported Israel intercepted the missiles. Iranian state media denied launching missiles after the truce.

The conflict left severe damage, including destroyed homes in Beersheba, where first responders continued to search for victims.
