Terrifying simulation shows exactly how to survive a plane crash according to science

A chilling simulation has shown how British man Vishwash Kumar Ramesh survived a deadly Air India crash that killed 270 people, including 241 on board. Ramesh, seated in 11A, was the only survivor after the plane crashed into a residential building in Ahmedabad just seconds after takeoff.

According to Ramesh, “When I got up, there were bodies all around me… I stood up and ran.” He believes the part of the plane he was in hadn’t struck the building, allowing him to escape through a broken emergency door. “I just walked out,” he said. He lost his brother, who was seated nearby.

A YouTube simulation by AiTelly suggests Ramesh either escaped mid-descent or just before the wreckage burst into flames. His survival remains a mystery.

The YouTube channel *How To Survive* shared tips in case of a crash. “Dress as if you’ll have to run away from a fire,” it advises, and “sit near the back of the plane.” The first 3 minutes after takeoff and last 8 before landing are the most dangerous. Most importantly, “leave your luggage,” and if you survive, “run at least 150 meters away from the plane.”

Despite 55 crashes so far in 2025, your odds of being in one remain about 1 in 11 million.
