Heartbreaking final text message tourist sent to mom before she died after being trapped down active volcano

Juliana Marins, a 26-year-old Brazilian tourist, tragically died after falling 500 meters from a cliff while hiking Mount Rinjani, an active volcano in Indonesia, on June 21. She was reportedly left behind by her hiking group after asking for a break, and her guide later returned to find she had fallen.

Her body was located using a drone, described as being “visually motionless” on a rock cliff. Rescue efforts were delayed due to poor weather and terrain. The park authorities stated: “Two large overhangs made it impossible to install the anchor. The rescue team had to climb to reach the victim.”

Marins’ mother shared her daughter’s final messages: “Mami, I love you so much… I’m not afraid of much… I was raised by a woman who can solve any problem.” Her family believes she could have survived had rescue efforts reached her sooner, stating, “If the team had reached her within 7 hours, Juliana would still be alive.”

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed her death after four days of search efforts. Senator Tereza Cristina said Juliana was “left behind twice: on the dangerous trail and after she fell.” The family is now demanding justice.
