A nine-year-old girl from Birmingham, Brogan-Lei Partridge, has shown incredible strength after losing both her feet to meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia. What began as mild symptoms after a family holiday quickly turned serious.
Her mother, Aimee Partridge, recalled, “We thought it might just be conjunctivitis from being in and out of the sea. She was tired, had a bit of a rash, and we thought it would clear up.” Initially mistaken for a minor infection, Brogan’s illness rapidly progressed. Vomiting, fatigue, and a spreading rash soon led the family to rush her to A\&E at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where the life-threatening condition was diagnosed.
Doctors acted quickly, but the infection caused severe complications, resulting in the amputation of both feet. Despite this, Brogan has remained strong and determined to adapt, becoming a source of inspiration to others.
Her family is now sharing their experience to raise awareness of meningitis symptoms and the importance of urgent medical care. They hope Brogan’s story helps others recognize the warning signs early.
