While hiking in Alaska, 21-year-old Amelia Milling found herself lost and injured after slipping and falling. Fortunately, a husky named Nanook suddenly appeared and guided her back to the main path. They hiked together until Amelia fell into a freezing river and had to shed her backpack to stay afloat. She struggled to breathe and her body was numb. Nanook came to her rescue once more, jumping into the water, grabbing her backpack, and paddling her to safety.
Amelia used her satellite phone to call for help, and they were rescued by Alaska state troopers the next day. Nanook was reunited with his owner, Scott Swift, who lives nearby. Amelia called Nanook her “guardian angel” and shared how the husky stayed by her side throughout the night.
Scott Swift revealed that Nanook had saved at least three other hikers, and he wouldn’t be surprised if there were more.
