Constipation isn’t just uncomfortable—it can be dangerous if ignored. It happens when digestion slows, causing waste to build up. This can lead to bloating, abdominal pain, and difficulty passing stool. While occasional constipation is common, chronic cases lasting weeks or more can cause serious health issues.
One extreme case involved a woman who didn’t have a bowel movement for two weeks. Her colon became so swollen it pressed on her heart, leaving doctors stunned. Chronic constipation can stretch and weaken the colon, “causing it to lose its ability to push waste through.”
Toxins may leak into the bloodstream, leading to “fatigue, acne, bad breath,” and weakened immunity. Other painful results include hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and even dangerous bowel blockages that might require surgery.
Worryingly, long-term constipation may increase colon cancer risk. “When the body retains waste too long,” harmful changes in colon cells can occur.
To prevent this, eat plenty of fiber, drink enough water, and stay active. A regular bathroom routine also helps keep digestion healthy.
