Chase Childers, a former baseball player turned law enforcement officer, tragically died while saving a family from drowning. A standout athlete at North Cobb Christian School and Georgia State University, he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2009 and later played in their minor league system.
The Orioles said, *“We are saddened to learn of Chase’s passing and send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”*
While at the scene with his wife and three children, Childers rescued a family of five from a powerful current. Sadly, he was swept away before he could reach safety.
A GoFundMe campaign has raised over \$230,000 to support his family. The fundraiser describes him as *“a loving husband and father”* whose final act was defined by *“bravery and selflessness.”*
*“He heroically saved a family of five in a time of crisis… putting their lives above his own. His love, bravery, and kindness will never be forgotten.”*
