Her Daughter Called Her ‘Fat’ After Going Swimming, Now Her Brilliant Response Has The Internet Divided

Allison Kimmey, a mother from Florida, had an enlightening conversation with her 4-year-old daughter, Cambelle, about body image. When Kimmey asked her kids to leave the pool, Cambelle exclaimed, “Mama is fat.” In response, Kimmey emphasized that having different amounts of fat doesn’t make anyone better than another. Her kids understood, saying, “It’s okay to have different fat.”

This Instagram post gained over 33,000 likes, as Kimmey aims to inspire parents to use body-positive language and actions. She stresses starting these conversations early to counteract unrealistic beauty standards kids encounter.

Kimmey’s household avoids using “fat” as an insult. She leads by example, emphasizing self-acceptance over discussions based on numbers or pounds. Kimmey believes showing kids a life where they don’t fear their bodies is vital in a society concerned with body image and self-esteem.
