Mom Names Her Baby After Her Favorite Band And People Won’t Stop Mocking Her

A baby’s name is often personal, influenced by family, culture, or passions. One mother sparked debate after naming her twin boys Noel and Liam, inspired by the Gallagher brothers from Oasis.

“Judged for my kids’ names?!,” she wrote on Mumsnet, saying the choice was a tribute to her favorite band. What felt meaningful to her was seen by some as “odd or laughable.”

Her post drew more than 200 comments. Supporters noted Noel and Liam are common names—“It’s not like the name is Ringo-esque or anything,” one user argued. Critics, however, mocked the choice, with one saying, “I’m not surprised they laugh really.”

Many agreed that baby names are always divisive. As one commenter put it, “Names are a bit of a polarizing thing anyway, and it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks.”

For the mother, Noel and Liam represent more than Oasis—they reflect her identity and passions. Her story highlights that behind every name is a personal meaning, and despite outside opinions, love and intention matter most.
