Katie Slaton, cousin of Tammy and Amy from 1000lb Sisters, has died at 37. Described as the “life of the party,” Katie appeared in season five of the TLC show, which follows the sisters’ struggles and progress with weight loss.
Earlier this year, Katie was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer. Doctors confirmed she had gastric adenocarcinoma, “which develops from the gland cells in the innermost lining of the stomach.” She underwent chemotherapy but sadly passed away.
Stomach cancer can be difficult to detect early because symptoms often resemble common digestive issues. Experts warn to look out for persistent signs, including indigestion, difficulty swallowing, feeling full quickly, nausea, and stomach pain.
Other possible symptoms include loss of appetite, vomiting, unexplained weight loss, tiredness, heartburn, black stools, or swelling in the abdomen.
Katie’s story highlights the importance of early detection. Recognizing these 12 symptoms may help people seek treatment sooner and improve their chances of recovery.
