A tragic crash on Saturday, the 7th, claimed the life of a 31-year-old motorcyclist on the SC-390 highway in Ipira, Santa Catarina. The head-on collision left the community in shock.
The victim was riding a BMW S1000 RR, a “high-performance motorcycle known for its speed and precision.” Witnesses recalled hearing its roar before the crash. After impact, the bike was reduced to “a twisted pile of metal.”
According to the Military Highway Police (PMRv), the rider crossed into the opposite lane on a curve, colliding with a Renault Sandero driven by a 30-year-old woman. Emergency crews rushed him to a hospital, but his injuries were fatal.
Police confirmed the Sandero’s driver was sober, though she admitted her family removed the car before investigators arrived, possibly affecting evidence.
Authorities seized the destroyed BMW, valued at up to R$150,000. The scene, filled with wreckage, debris, and the “smell of gasoline lingering in the air,” stands as a reminder of the dangers of high-speed driving.
