Bruce Willis’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, revealed the painful journey of his dementia in a moving ABC interview with Diane Sawyer on August 26, 2025. She described how the first signs appeared quietly: “He would always love taking the girls to school, and then those school runs just started to not happen as much.” Soon, Bruce grew uncharacteristically silent. “For someone who was very talkative and very engaged, he was just a little more quiet… he would kind of just melt a little bit,” Emma recalled.
As his speech faltered and his stutter returned, their marriage strained. “It doesn’t feel like a marriage anymore,” she admitted, though she embraced the role of caregiver. To protect their daughters, Emma made “one of the hardest decisions” — moving Bruce into a nearby home for round-the-clock care.
Though “Bruce is in really great health, overall; it’s just his brain that is failing him,” Emma insists he still knows his family. “He’s holding our hands… and so that’s all I need.”
