A violent attack at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis left several children and adults injured during a church service. The suspect, 23-year-old Robin Westman, “died by suicide after the incident,” according to authorities.
Police said Westman carried out a targeted assault on Wednesday morning, with some church doors found obstructed. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called it “a deliberate act of violence.” Investigators are reviewing digital activity and writings, but the case remains open.
Before the attack, Westman posted online about mental health struggles, though officials warned against “drawing conclusions before the investigation is complete.”
City leaders urged compassion. Mayor Jacob Frey said the focus should be on “supporting affected families and the broader school community,” not on speculation.
That evening, a prayer vigil gathered clergy, families, and neighbors. Officials emphasized the need for mental health resources, responsible dialogue, and long-term community healing.
