A couple’s decision about having children should remain private, but one mother let her wishes for grandchildren go too far.
She admitted, “My daughter married last year, and I’ve been quietly hoping for a grandchild ever since.” When her daughter revealed she was infertile, the mother responded harshly: “You will not receive my inheritance.”
Later, the daughter and her husband adopted a baby girl. When asked if adoption counted, the mother told her, “No, she’s not biologically yours.” To her shock, they soon returned with adoption papers and a lawyer.
The daughter, through tears, said, “You made it clear that blood is all that counts to you. So we made a decision.” Her husband handed over documents petitioning to cut off the mother’s rights as a grandmother.
Finally, the daughter declared, “If she isn’t your family, neither are we.” With that, she closed the door, leaving her mother devastated and unsure how to fix what she had lost.
