A summer day of fun turned tragic when 11-year-old Jordan Roe sacrificed her life to save her cousin during a tubing accident in Florida. Known as the family’s “protector,” Jordan was riding on a tube with her 8-year-old cousin Laila and 9-year-old Brylee when a jet ski slammed into a dock, throwing them into the water. Brylee escaped with bruises, but Laila suffered severe injuries.
“Jordan sacrificed her life, and she saved her cousin’s life with her life,” her aunt said. Authorities first misreported that the younger child had died, but it was Jordan who didn’t survive. Laila has since endured multiple surgeries and continues to fight for recovery.
Her mother, Kristine Robinson, received the devastating call while caring for her newborn in a NICU. She now urges families to “hold your babies tight” and remember the importance of water safety.
Tributes describe Jordan as a compassionate girl who loved animals and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Robinson shared, “Jordan died as she lived — protecting her family.” Through organ donation, Jordan’s wish to help others lives on.
Fundraisers have been launched for Jordan’s funeral and Laila’s medical care, as the community mourns the brave young girl whose “light will never fade.”
