A Florida family vacation turned tragic when siblings Sloan and Maddox Mattingly were trapped in a collapsing sand hole while playing on the beach in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, using shovels and support boards in desperate efforts to free the children. Sadly, seven-year-old Sloan did not survive, while her nine-year-old brother Maddox is still in critical condition.
The children’s mother, Therese Mattingly, expressed her heartbreak, calling Sloan the “purest human being” and sharing her disbelief over the devastating loss.
What should have been a joyful family trip ended in grief, leaving the Mattingly family mourning one child and praying for the recovery of the other.
