Amy Schumer brought her trademark humor to talking about her steamy Trainwreck scene with John Cena. She joked that he was “actually inside her,” a line that quickly grabbed attention.
In the 2015 film, Schumer plays a commitment-phobic woman dating Cena’s gym-obsessed Steven. Promoting the movie, she compared his backside to “a whole universe” and described being under him like “a refrigerator” pressing down. She even teased, “I just did what I normally do during sex—just lay there.”
Cena later told Conan O’Brien that the scene was designed to be awkward, meant to make audiences squirm. On the Club Shay Shay podcast, he admitted intimate scenes are far from romantic, with crews nearby adding to the discomfort. Still, he praised Schumer for putting him at ease.
Schumer kept the banter going online, writing, “That scene meant a lot to me, I was really into it… and I’m in love with you.”
Their playful back-and-forth gave fans a peek behind the scenes, showing that what looks intimate on screen is often awkward, funny, and very unglamorous in real life.
