Rock and roll legend Dave Edmunds, 81, is in intensive care after a severe cardiac arrest at his home in Monmouthshire, Wales. Famous for his 1970 hit “I Hear You Knocking” and collaborations with Rockpile and Nick Lowe, his sudden health crisis has shocked fans worldwide.
His wife, Cici, revealed in a Facebook post that Dave “died in her arms” before being revived by emergency responders. She called his survival a “miracle” but said the cardiac arrest caused brain damage and memory loss, leaving his future uncertain.
Doctors report he is in critical but stable condition. Oxygen deprivation may lead to long-term problems with “memory, cognition, and mobility,” and his recovery at his age will be unpredictable.
Messages of love and support have poured in from fans and musicians. Cici expressed gratitude, asking for prayers and noting that recovery will require “strength, patience, and love.”
Known for blending rock, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues, Edmunds has left a lasting legacy on British rock. As Cici put it, his survival is nothing short of a miracle, and whatever lies ahead, his music continues to inspire generations.
