Erika Kirk, wife of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, shared a Bible verse just hours before his death. On Instagram/X she posted Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Charlie Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck during a Q&A session at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. The attack happened about 20 minutes into his speech on the American Comeback Tour. He was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead.
Kirk leaves behind his wife Erika and their two young children — a daughter and a son. The couple had recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.
Erika’s post has since gone viral, with many calling it a haunting reflection of faith before tragedy. “God is our refuge and strength” now reads as both a testament to her trust in God and a sorrowful prelude to heartbreak.
Though there is no evidence her post had any connection to the shooting, it has become part of the public mourning. For many, it highlights how expressions of faith and grief often converge in moments of sudden loss.
