The FBI has released new updates on the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, including the suspect’s identity and a mugshot. Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10, in front of more than 3,000 people. He was rushed to the hospital but later died.
Donald Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah. At a press conference, Governor Spencer Cox said video footage showed Robinson arriving in a Dodge Challenger before the shooting. He was later found wearing the same clothing seen in the footage: a maroon t-shirt, light shorts, black hat, and light shoes.
Trump revealed on Fox & Friends that Robinson was turned in by “someone very close,” later claiming his father drove him to police. Cox thanked the family for “doing the right thing.”
Investigators also recovered a rifle and bullet casings inscribed with bizarre messages, including “Hey fascist! Catch!” and “oh bella ciao bella ciao bella ciao ciao ciao.”
