Chris Pratt has faced backlash after commenting on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, with some fans even demanding he be removed from Marvel projects.
Kirk, 30, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck on September 10 at Utah Valley University and died despite emergency efforts. The FBI named Tyler Robinson, 22, as the alleged shooter. He faces aggravated murder and firearm charges, with prosecutors considering the death penalty. Kirk’s wife Erika and their two children have received wide public sympathy.
Pratt posted on X: “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.” Critics accused him of supporting Kirk’s politics, sparking hashtags calling for Marvel to fire him.
Later, Pratt posted a video urging people to pause, pray, step away from phones, and connect with nature and loved ones. Some dismissed it as “useless,” while others praised his positivity.
The controversy highlights tensions around celebrity influence, politics, and faith. Despite online uproar, analysts say Marvel is unlikely to cut ties, noting Pratt’s strong box-office appeal and dedicated fan base.
