Donald Trump and Melania Trump attended a state banquet at Windsor Castle during their UK visit with King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
Speaking to 160 guests, Trump praised the U.S.–UK relationship, saying: “The bond of kinship and identity between America and the United Kingdom is priceless and eternal. We’re like two notes in one chord… really meant to be played together.” He also called the visit “one of the highest honours” of his life.
Trump singled out Prince William, telling the audience: “His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales. Really amazing… I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in future.”
Royal watchers believe this was a subtle dig at Prince Harry, since he was left out completely. Social media reactions included: “The King was uncomfortable there” and “Do your homework Trump!!… the King has 2 sons!!” Some noted Charles’s smile appeared to fade during the remarks.
Trump also praised Kate Middleton, who is in remission from cancer, saying she looked “so radiant and so healthy and so beautiful.” Fans, however, remain focused on what seemed like an intentional snub of Harry.
