At a memorial service on September 21, Erika Kirk honored her late husband, Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder fatally shot during a speech at Utah Valley University. The event at the Arizona Cardinals’ stadium drew tens of thousands, including Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance.
During her tribute, Erika lifted her hand in the American Sign Language sign for “I love you,” pointing it heavenward as a message to Charlie. She described his dedication, saying, “He left this world without regret… But Charlie died with unfinished work, not with unfinished business.”
She also addressed the accused shooter, Tyler Robinson, declaring forgiveness: “I forgive him because that’s what Christ did. Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they’re doing.”
Erika vowed to continue her husband’s mission by leading Turning Point USA as CEO and chairwoman. “Charlie wanted to save young men, just like the one who killed himself,” she said, promising that “every part of our work will become greater.”
Meanwhile, Trump announced Charlie Kirk will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously. Supporters also shared that his final actions “miraculously” saved lives, according to a surgeon.
