Bruce Willis and Emma Heming have been married for over a decade, and she continues to honor her vow “in sickness and in health” after his diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia. Though she sometimes reflects on earlier memories of him, Heming is focused on providing the best care possible. She works with dementia experts, including Teepa Snow, who helps her add skills to her “dementia care toolbox.”
On Instagram, Heming shared a memory feature that showed a video of Bruce praising her skincare line, Cocobaba. She reposted it with the caption: “What’s this new Memory thingy on IG!? Omg, my biggest fan. I’m in love with him.” The video highlighted Bruce’s past enthusiasm, reminding her of better days.
Recently, Bruce was seen out in Los Angeles, a rare sight since his initial aphasia diagnosis. His family has been open about his condition. In a statement, daughter Rumer Willis wrote, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).”
On film sets, coworkers noticed his struggles. “Someone would give him a line and he didn’t understand what it meant. He was just being puppeted,” one crew member said.
The Willis family has expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received and continues to face this journey together.
