Sally Field: A Beloved Actress with an Unforgettable Career

Sally Field, a renowned actress with numerous accolades, commenced her career in 1965, notably starring in “Gidget.” Beyond her iconic roles in films like “Forrest Gump” and “Steel Magnolias,” she delves into personal struggles in her 2018 memoir, “In Pieces,” addressing abuse and battles with depression.

Born in Pasadena on November 6, 1946, to actress Margaret Field and salesman Richard Dryden Field, her upbringing involved her mother’s marriage to actor Jock Mahoney. Field’s own marital journey included unions with Steven Craig (1968-1975) and Alan Greisman (1984-1994). Her turbulent relationship with Burt Reynolds, detailed in her memoir, ended in 1980.

Despite Reynolds expressing regret posthumously, Field emphasized their strained connection, saying, “He was not good for me in any way.” Now 76, Field, unfazed by retirement, treasures her awards while enjoying family time, blending her acting legacy with a joyful grandmotherhood. As Steven Spielberg notes, she defied typecasting, carving a unique path in a six-decade career, leaving an indelible mark in cinematic history.
