Two young brothers, 7-year-old Bowyn Miller and 4-year-old Banx McAmis, tragically drowned near Hamm Creek Park along the Brazos River in Johnson County, Texas. The boys disappeared while spending a sunny afternoon by the water, prompting an immediate search by family and rescuers.
Emergency crews searched for nearly two hours before finding the children. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the drownings were accidental, with Lt. Keven George warning, “It only takes a moment,” to show how fast tragedy can strike.
Bowyn, a second-grader at Plum Creek Elementary, loved karate, video games, and outdoor adventures. Banx was full of life, a Ninja Turtles fan who “always found ways to bring joy.” Their close bond made their loss even more painful for the family and community.
In their memory, neighbors held vigils, laid flowers by the river, and raised over $35,000 on GoFundMe to help with funeral costs.
This heartbreaking loss reminds everyone how crucial constant supervision is near water. Authorities urge families to stay alert so that “moments of fun never turn into tragedy.”
