Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • Salt, pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 lb ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 head cabbage
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

1. Tomato Sauce Base: Melt 2 tbsp butter, sauté 1/2 cup onion until translucent. Add 1 tsp garlic, then mix in 28 oz crushed tomatoes, 15 oz tomato sauce, salt, pepper. Stir in 2 tbsp brown sugar and 1 tbsp red wine vinegar. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.

2. Cabbage Roll Filling: Combine 1 lb ground beef, 1 cup cooked rice, 1/2 cup onion, 1 tsp garlic, salt, and 2 tbsp chopped parsley. Mix in 1 beaten egg.

3. Assembling Rolls: Separate cabbage leaves, fill with meat mixture, roll, and place in a baking dish.

4. Adding Tomato Sauce: Pour the prepared tomato sauce over the cabbage rolls.

5. Baking: Spray with cooking oil, bake at 350°F for 30-40 minutes until the cabbage is tender. Serve and enjoy!
