Just minutes ago, a tremendous fire broke out— Several Structures Engulfed

A massive fire erupted late Sunday at Motel 9 near Austin’s University/Downtown area, with thick smoke visible across the city. Footage shared by Citizen showed “multiple structures fully engulfed in flames.”

The Austin Fire Department responded quickly, sending several engines to contain the blaze before it could spread to nearby buildings.

Witnesses described panic as guests fled the burning motel. “It spread fast — faster than anyone expected,” one said. “The entire side of the building was burning in minutes.”

As of now, authorities have not confirmed any injuries or fatalities.

Roads surrounding the area remain closed while crews work to extinguish the fire and protect nearby businesses.
