Magda Szubanski, beloved for Kath & Kim and Babe, shared a heartfelt update from her hospital bed as she undergoes treatment for stage-four cancer. Appearing in her hospital gown, she smiled through exhaustion to thank a young fan, saying, “This is a special shout-out to Annabella… I’m in here having chemo, and it really cheered me up.” Her caption read simply: “Chemo is smacking me around right now.”

The 64-year-old actress revealed in May that she was diagnosed with stage-four mantle cell lymphoma, discovered “incidentally” during a routine breast screening. She called it “one of the nasty ones, unfortunately,” and bravely shaved her head before treatment began.

Despite her diagnosis, Szubanski remains hopeful. “The good thing is I’m surrounded by beautiful friends, family, and an incredible medical support team,” she said. “We have the best in the world here in Australia.”

Keeping her trademark humor, she joked to fans, “Don’t hug me, kiss me, or breathe anywhere near me! Wave enthusiastically from a safe distance and know I love you madly.”
