Jamie Lee Curtis shared a heartfelt tribute to her late friend and Curb Your Enthusiasm star Richard Lewis, who died of a heart attack at 76. The two starred together in Anything But Love from 1989 to 1992.
On Instagram, Curtis wrote, “I just learned that my friend Richard Lewis has died,” and thanked him for being “the reason I am sober.” She recalled seeing his billboard during the casting for Anything But Love and asking to audition him. “He blew everyone else away,” she said. Their chemistry led ABC to rework the pilot into a successful four-season show.
Curtis described Lewis as “deep and so damn funny,” admitting he often hid lines on props or even her face during close-ups. They shared grief over the loss of mutual friends, including John Ritter.
“In his last text message to me, Richard hoped that I could get ABC/Disney to release another boxed set of episodes,” she wrote.
“He found love with Joyce, and that, of course, along with being sober, was what mattered most to him.” Curtis ended her tribute with, “Richard, may you rest in laughter. My Marty, I love you, Hannah.”
