She Was A Famous Actress Who Appeared In Around 100 Films, But One Tragic Mistake Drastically Altered Her Appearance

Lyn May, born Lilia Guadalupe Mendiola Mayares in 1952 in Acapulco, is a Chinese-Mexican dancer and actress known as “The Goddess of Love.” She began working young to support her family and later met her first husband, an American sailor, with whom she had two daughters before divorcing him for abuse.

After moving to Mexico City, she found fame dancing and performing on Siempre en Domingo, eventually starring in nearly 100 films in the 1970s and 1980s. Theater owner Enrique Lombardini gave her the name “Lyn May: The Goddess of Love” after audiences were captivated by her burlesque performances.

Her personal life was filled with drama. After her second husband, Antonio Chi Su, died of cancer, she shocked the public by confessing, “Yes, I dug him up and slept beside him.” She also claimed to have had an affair with a Mexican president and later married film producer Guillermo Calderón Stell.

In 2021, at 68, she announced she was pregnant with 29-year-old singer Markos D1’s child, later admitting it was a publicity stunt.

May’s greatest tragedy came from a botched cosmetic procedure where she was injected with “water, baby oil, or cooking oil” instead of collagen — a mistake that permanently changed her face. Despite everything, Lyn May remains a symbol of resilience and reinvention.
