Teens design a ‘wheelchair-stroller’ for disabled dad so he can take his new baby on walks

In Germantown, Maryland, a group of inventive students at Bullis School has brought joy to a disabled father, Jeremy King, who faced physical challenges after brain tumor surgery. Jeremy and his wife, Chelsie, grappled with how he could safely walk their child due to balance issues. Chelsie, seeking a solution, approached teacher Matt Zigler, whose class focuses on creating products for social good.

Zigler’s students, using a wheelchair prototype and 3D printing technology, designed two wheelchair adaption devices named “WheeStroll.” Jeremy expressed deep gratitude, stating, “To see the smile on his face and to know that I was able to help give him that connection with his child.” The project earned international recognition, winning two awards. The “WheeStroll” not only addressed a specific need but showcased the impact of innovation and compassion.
