Actor Whitney Rydbeck, best known for his role in Friday The 13th: Jason Lives, passed away last week at 79 due to complications from prostate cancer in a hospice care facility in Chatsworth, California.
A friend and colleague said, “We lost not only a truly funny comedian and actor…but one of the most good hearted human beings I’ve ever known. God Bless You and Rest in Peace..Whitney Rydbeck. Our Loss is Heavens’ Gain.”
Rydbeck’s career spanned decades, starting in the early 1970s, mostly through guest appearances on popular TV series. One of his most notable roles was as Chief Engineer Argyle in the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, a part that endeared him to fans.
He also appeared in many other well-known shows, including Murder, She Wrote, MASH*, Scrubs, The A-Team, Knight Rider, and The Dukes of Hazzard. These roles showcased his versatility and ability to bring different characters to life.
