Rob Reiner’s eldest daughter has spoken publicly following the reported deaths of her father and stepmother, Michele Singer Reiner.
The acclaimed filmmaker was reportedly found dead alongside his wife at their Brentwood, California home on Saturday, December 14. According to information shared by TMZ, both Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were discovered with injuries described as lacerations consistent with a knife. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery Homicide Division is currently leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
A spokesperson for the Reiner family confirmed the tragic news on Saturday evening, asking for privacy as the family processes the loss.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
During a press conference, LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton emphasized that the case remains under active investigation and that authorities are proceeding cautiously.
“At this time, the LAPD is not seeking anyone as a suspect or as a person of interest,” Hamilton said. “We will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and move forward.”
“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy said. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner met while working on the iconic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, a film that would later become one of Reiner’s most celebrated directing achievements. The couple remained together for more than three decades.
