Nathaniel “Nate” Pelletier, a familiar face behind the scenes of Hallmark’s hit series When Calls the Heart, has died suddenly at the age of 53. The show, which stars Lori Loughlin and Jack Wagner, lost a longtime team member whose work was deeply valued by cast and crew.
Pelletier appeared on screen in several episodes as a taxi driver, but his main role was off camera. He was a key part of the transportation department, where he cared for and drove the show’s distinctive old-fashioned vehicles, helping bring the series’ historic setting to life.
According to his obituary, Pelletier passed away on April 11 at his home in Langley, British Columbia. His death came as a shock to those who worked closely with him over the years.
Actor Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen on the show, shared a heartfelt tribute honoring both their friendship and Pelletier’s generosity. Reflecting on shared memories, Cummins wrote, “I just came back from a ride on the bike Gord and Nate put together for the girls and I’m taking shade in Mexico under the awning Nate helped me figure out in the woods near the old cabin,” he began.
The tribute highlights how Pelletier’s impact went far beyond his job. Remembered as kind, skilled, and always willing to help, Nate Pelletier leaves behind a lasting mark on the When Calls the Heart family and all who knew him.
