An active shooter incident occurred Thursday morning at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, just north of Detroit. The situation began around 7:08 a.m. when shots were reported in the hospital’s parking garage, triggering an immediate lockdown and emergency response.
Authorities later confirmed the suspect was a hospital employee who targeted a coworker. The victim, a 25-year-old staff member, was shot twice in the arm. The motive has not yet been released.
The injured employee was treated at the hospital and is in stable condition, with officials saying he is expected to recover.
Hospital operations were temporarily disrupted as patients, visitors, and staff were secured while police responded. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, and the investigation is ongoing.
The shooting has renewed concerns about workplace safety in healthcare settings. Hospital officials say security protocols are being reviewed to better protect staff and patients.
