Soccer Star Carli Lloyd Says She “Had Enough” Of USWNT Kneeling At Olympics

US soccer icon Carli Lloyd spoke on CBS’s “Kickin’ it,” defending her choice to stand during the national anthem, despite the trend of kneeling for social justice. Lloyd asserted that some athletes kneeled merely for attention, lacking a clear purpose. She explained, “I’m in support of actionable change… but kneeling just felt like a thing to do.”

Reflecting on her decision to stand, she emphasized it wasn’t a protest but a personal choice for her last world championship game. Lloyd defended her stance, stating, “There is a lot of things that need to be different… I’ve always viewed every single person as a human being.” Despite media pressure, she stressed the importance of diverse opinions in today’s world. Lloyd’s unwavering commitment to respecting the flag has made her a prominent figure in women’s soccer and sports culture.
