Kelsey Grammer Refuses to Apologize for His Faith: ‘Jesus Made a Difference’

In the movie “Jesus Revolution,” actor Kelsey Grammer plays Chuck Smith, a real-life pastor who embraced the counterculture in the 1960s and ’70s, inviting hippies and rock music into his church. Grammer, a protestant, appreciates Smith’s inclusive approach, stating, “What Chuck did went back to one of the basic precepts of Christianity, which is inclusion.”

Reflecting on his faith, Grammer shared, “I’ve had hiccups. I’ve had some tragic times. I have wrestled with those and worked my way through them,” highlighting his journey of questioning and finding peace in Jesus. The actor emphasized the enduring impact of Smith’s actions, with Calvary Chapel branching into 1,000 churches nationwide, shaping Christian contemporary music. Grammer, who watched the film with his wife, described it as “uplifting” and a significant project in his career.
