In Ruskin, Florida, a community of strangers united to rescue victims of a car crash on I-75. A Ford Excursion, carrying three passengers, lost control after a rear tire blew out, flipping over the guardrail.
A 9-year-old girl was partially trapped beneath the overturned SUV. Dayna Gibson, her father David Lowe, and others rushed to help. Gibson recalled, “She told us that her youngest daughter was under the vehicle.” Working together, the Good Samaritans held the SUV steady until the ambulance arrived. Gibson emphasized the diverse group that assisted, stating,
“There were people from all walks of life there, it didn’t matter.” Around 50 people joined forces, successfully freeing the child before emergency responders arrived. The passengers were taken to Tampa General Hospital and are in stable condition. Gibson reflected on the experience, noting the power of unity during challenging times. “I think if we could be reminded how powerful we are together, especially during these times, we could do a lot of great things,” she said.
