Mark Wahlberg reveals what he’s giving up for Lent, and it reveals a lot about him as a person

Mark Wahlberg, known for his fame and fortune, is also an inspirational figure off-camera, emphasizing the significance of faith in his life. Despite his current success, his early years in 70s and 80s Boston were tumultuous, marked by a troubled youth and racially-charged assaults. At 16, he faced conviction for assault and theft after a store robbery. During his time in jail, Wahlberg turned to faith, stating, “I had to focus on my faith … it allowed me to overcome a lot of things.” Transformed, Wahlberg, now 51, is married with four children and a successful acting career.

Wahlberg attributes much of his success to his belief in God, expressing in 2010, “I pray every day for the strength to be a good servant, parent, and spouse.” Recently, on Ash Wednesday, he shared his Lenten plans on Facebook. Rather than traditional sacrifices, Wahlberg aims to do more, focusing on “more love, more peace, more acceptance, more caring, and more kindness.” In his message, he wishes his followers a beautiful Lent season, concluding with, “God bless you all.”
