In Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, an 18-year-old, Tyler Williams, attempted a robbery in Cobbs Creek Park. Mistakenly armed with a fake gun, Williams approached a 67-year-old man in the woods, demanding money. The older man, fearing for his life, grappled with Williams, revealing his own real .38 caliber handgun. In self-defense, the man shot Williams in the head, who succumbed to the injuries. The incident gained national attention due to the assailant’s critical error – using a toy gun. Even the police initially believed it was real, highlighting the danger of such confrontations. Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood acknowledged the gravity, stating, “The gun Williams had used in the attempted robbery was ‘fake,’ but even the police thought the pellet gun was ‘real’ until they got a closer look at it.”
