Teens design a ‘wheelchair-stroller’ for disabled dad so he can take his new baby on walks

In Germantown, Maryland, Jeremy King faced parenting challenges due to physical limitations after brain tumor surgery. Determined to be actively involved in parenting, Jeremy and his wife sought solutions for safe walks with their child. With limited resources for disabled parents, Chelsie King approached teacher Matt Zigler, known for his “Making for Social Good” class at Bullis School. Zigler and his students took on the challenge, creating two wheelchair adaption devices named “WheeStroll.” Rigorously tested, the devices allowed Jeremy to safely stroll with his son. The students’ commitment impressed Jeremy, bringing joy to his fatherhood. Benjamin Gordon, one of the students, expressed the satisfaction of enabling Jeremy’s connection with his child. The project not only succeeded but also earned two international awards for the innovative “WheeStroll.”
