“Starsky & Hutch” Actor Dead At 80

Iconic TV star David Soul, famed for his role as Detective Hutchinson on “Starsky & Hutch,” has passed at 80, leaving a void in the entertainment world. His wife, Helen Snell, announced his departure, stating he left “after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.” Known for his remarkable portrayal of Hutchinson, Soul’s chemistry with on-screen partner Paul Michael Glaser in the 1975-1979 buddy cop series was electric, making them unforgettable.

Beyond the streets of Bay City, Soul directed three episodes of the show, showcasing his versatility. His career included notable roles like Joshua Bolt in “Here Come the Brides” and Officer John Davis in “Magnum Force.” He also ventured into music, leaving a mark with hits like “Don’t Give Up on Us” (1976) and “Silver Lady” (1977).

Soul’s journey began in the 1960s, and he graced iconic TV series like “Star Trek” and “All in the Family.” In the 1990s, he pursued a stage career in England, becoming a British citizen in 2004.

Survived by his wife and six children, Soul’s impact, from “Starsky & Hutch” to London’s West End, will be cherished. A resilient figure, his complex life revealed triumphs and challenges. Remembered not just as Detective Hutchinson, David Soul’s multifaceted artistry will be eternally appreciated. Rest in peace.
