Despite alleged backlash from Walmart management, Bonagura stood firm, raising over $100,000 in 24 hours. Carpenter, initially needing $60,000 to retire, received overwhelming support, surpassing her target with $186,653 from 13,500 donations. Expressing gratitude, Carpenter plans to retire in early 2023 after assisting during the holiday season. Reflecting on her Walmart tenure, she’ll miss the daily interactions with loyal customers.
