Teenage Girl Arrested After School Makes Unfortunate Discovery

Note: we are republishing this story, which originally made the news in May 2016.

Madison Cox, a 17-year-old South Carolina beauty queen, was arrested for allegedly forging medical notes to skip school. Crowned Miss Spartanburg International and Miss South Carolina Teen International, Cox used notes from Parris Family Chiropractic, although the clinic never treated her on those dates. Police disclosed that the clinic was closed on some of those days. Cox took to Twitter, expressing disbelief at the news, stating, “Did they really just put me on the news BC I went to jail for a DOCTORS NOTE???” She later acknowledged her mistake, admitting, “I’ve got to learn to stop being so childish and keep my mouth closed.” Cox’s social media posts sparked attention, with her remarking, “It’s sad that I’m the only entertainment in y’alls lives.”
