Canadian actress Carrie Anne Fleming, known for her roles in cult TV and genre productions, has died at 51. Her passing was confirmed by co-star Jim Beaver, who worked with her on Supernatural. She died on February 26 in British Columbia due to complications from breast cancer, with her family sharing the news a month later.
“She died peacefully with her loved ones by her side,” her representative said. “It was a great privilege to have known Carrie. She was a beautiful soul, inspiring, and above all, kind. She will be greatly missed.”
Born on August 16, 1974, in Digby, Canada, Fleming grew up mostly with her mother after her parents separated early in her life. She later settled in British Columbia and attended Mount Douglas Senior Secondary in Victoria, where her passion for acting began.
Before fully committing to acting, she briefly worked as a model in Vancouver. It didn’t take long for others to recognize her natural talent and screen presence. “She had such a fresh face,” her instructor Dama Hanks said, while director John Gray described her as “as low-maintenance a performer as a director could wish for.”
Her early career included a recurring role on Viper and a small part in Happy Gilmore alongside Adam Sandler. Looking back on that time, she once said with humor, “I wouldn’t call it dating. I brought him milkshakes and we hung out. He was really nice.”
