The original date for the eagerly awaited “The Coast of Carolina Show,” featuring legendary tropical rocker Jimmy Buffet, at Charleston, South Carolina’s Credit One Stadium, was May 20, 2023. Unexpected events, however, have changed these intentions. Buffet informed his followers on Twitter just two days before the performance that the show would not go as planned. He explained how, while in Boston for a routine checkup, he unexpectedly was admitted to the hospital to deal with serious health issues.
“I promise you that growing old is not for sissies,” Buffet said, acknowledging the challenges associated with aging. He promised his ardent followers that he would fully heal and reschedule the concert later. Buffet expressed his dedication to his craft by saying, “When I am well enough to perform, that is what I will be doing.” Buffet took the chance to thank his followers from the bottom of his heart and recognize their importance in his life. “You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilled than I could have ever imagined,” he said. He expressed gratitude for their prayers and thoughts during this trying time as he closed his statement.
Buffet’s current hospitalization is not unusual; less than a year prior, in September 2022, he dealt with a similar issue that forced him to postpone five performances. Buffet’s agent made it clear then that his health issues and subsequent hospitalization required a vacation from traveling for the rest of the year. Per the doctor’s orders, he was told to take the time off to rest and mend. In response to Buffet’s post, his fans seized the opportunity to send their well wishes. Among the comments, one person wrote, “Wishing you a speedy recovery, Jimmy!”
