Phil Collins, the renowned Genesis drummer and singer, with eight Grammy awards, was born on January 30, 1951, in London, UK. He fell in love with music from a young age, recalling his early drumming endeavors at five and his fascination with the English beat scene in the early 1960s.
His journey took a significant turn in the 1970s when he joined Genesis as their drummer, eventually taking on the role of the band’s lead vocalist. Collins achieved both band and solo success with hits like “In The Air Tonight” and “You Can’t Hurry Love.”
After 25 years with Genesis, he decided to pursue a solo career and explore new musical directions. In 2017, he rejoined the band for “The Last Domino” global tour, but due to health challenges, he now sings while his son, Nicholas, plays the drums.
Despite his love for performing, Collins is grappling with physical limitations and contemplating retirement. “I’m not sure if I want to go out on the road anymore,” he admitted, acknowledging the reality of their age.
