OLD FASHIONED ORANGE CANDY

At my local IGA, I stumbled upon nostalgic candies, redolent of childhood. Despite not enjoying the taste, their scent, reminiscent of Christmas, compelled me to purchase some. Engaging with the cashier, I uncovered a simple, delightful recipe she shared.

“Put candy in a microwavable bowl and microwave until soft. Twenty seconds is plenty in my microwave,” she advised. Once softened, flatten the candies between plastic wrap and coat with powdered sugar and chopped pecans. Allow them to cool for a festive treat resembling a precursor to gummy bears.

A friend on Facebook elevated the recipe, suggesting a delicious twist: “Cut the orange slices in half lengthwise and dip in melted dark chocolate.” A delectable upgrade worth trying, infusing a touch of luxury into the cherished childhood aroma. Give it a shot and savor the festive flavor!

INGREDIENTS:
Orange slice candies
Powdered sugar
Pecans, chopped or ground

DIRECTIONS:
Put candy in microwavable bowl and microwave until soft. Twenty seconds is plenty in my microwave.
Immediately, place the candy between slices of plastic wrap, waxed paper or parchment paper and roll out until flat. Dip in powdered sugar and then in pecans.
Let cool and enjoy!
